CORE Presidential Candidate Karen Lewis “Name the names!”

…Wednesday, other frustrated teachers demanded that Chicago Schools CEO Ron Huberman make the salaries of top bureaucrats more easily accessible to the public. They want details on CPS budget cuts, hires and contracts.

“Why should we believe CPS numbers?asked Karen Lewis, a King College Prep teacher who is challenging [Marilyn] Stewart for CTU president.

Lewis and others vowed to obtain a “line-item,” detailed CPS budget so they could identify waste and potential savings.

“CPS even dances around what Huberman makes. We want you to name the names of people who are taking money . . . [from] children,” Lewis said as she stood before a piggy bank shaped like a schoolhouse.

“Let’s put the money back in the schools.”
